I live and work just Northeast of Seattle Washington at the base of the Cascade Mountain Range. I am a third generation artist. Painting and illustration is my passion. Each portrait is lovingly rendered using Windsor and Newton Professional Grade Watercolor on Hot Pressed Arches Watercolor Paper or for multimedia portraits a blend of Watercolor and Faber Castell Polychromos Colored Pencils.
I’ve tackled unique painting challenges such as incomplete reference materials, lighting challenges and personal background requests. I work in layers starting with your favorite photo or other reference materials. I then draw the subject or subjects out with pencil to further define the composition. I then transfer that to watercolor paper where I use a glazing technique to build layers of color and tone resulting in a rich luminous rendering that has depth and a life-like quality.
I spend 25-80 hours on each portrait ensuring their unique characteristics are represented. I am a detail oriented artist whose goal is to capture the spirit and likeness of your pet. I work from your photos and can easily combine images for multiple subjects to create a composition and background of your choosing. These images are intended to be a likeness of your pet and not a photorealistic rendering. It is my intention to capture the spirit of your lovely animal.
